This enabled the production of virtually waterproof boots by connecting the soles to the leather uppers without stitching. The name Timberland was introduced only in 1973 with the launch of a waterproof leather boot.
Because the boot proved to be very popular, the company name was officially changed to The Timberland Company.

In 1978 and 1979, Timberland added casual and boat shoes to its boots product line.

Sidney Swartz, one of the founder's sons, took the helm at the company (he still serves as Chairman). Under his leadership Timberland began to evolve into a lifestyle brand, adding clothing and women's shoes to its products.
Throughout the 1990s, Timberland was taken from the great outdoors and dubbed into the mainstream fashion. The nature of the comfortable shoe was such that not only were they durable but looked great with a pair of jeans on the street.

Dandy Fellow stocks a very select range of Timberland boots from the archive like the 7 eye chukka gortex boot.
