Behind The Label

Universal Works draws inspiration from founder David's upbringing in a provincial Midlands town during the 1970s. Coming from a working-class family that valued dressing well, David admired his father and uncles in their workwear and weekend attire. His career began as an apprentice sign-writer, coinciding with the emergence of sporting and music subcultures in the 1980s. Over the next thirty years, David honed his skills in the fashion industry, learning from and collaborating with industry luminaries like Paul Smith and Maharishi. This diverse journey informs Universal Works' commitment to blending heritage influences with contemporary style in their menswear collections.
